We're excited to share with you the story of Amber of Amber Rose wines, a Santa Barbara native, whose path has led her from the sandy beaches to the thriving vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley. Born in a family deeply rooted in Santa Barbara since the 1950s, Amber's connection with this region is as natural as it is profound. Growing up, her life was a blend of adventures on Santa Barbara's beaches and the serene rivers of SY, fostering an early appreciation for the natural world.

Amber's childhood, immersed in agricultural activities, played a pivotal role in shaping her future. Her initial academic focus on Ecological Restoration was a reflection of her love for the outdoors. However, a significant shift occurred while working at The Mirabelle Inn in Solvang. Here, under the guidance of Chef Norbert and wine curator Brigetta, Amber was introduced to the world of high-end food and wine. A particular encounter with Ken Brown's 2007 Clos Pepe Pinot Noir, paired with an exquisite dish, redirected her career towards viticulture and enology.

Pursuing this newfound passion, Amber enrolled in viticulture and enology courses at Hancock, setting the stage for her entry into the wine industry. Her journey included various positions in wineries, culminating in a collaboration with Ken Brown. After a decade of gaining experience, 2018 marked the year Amber ventured into making her own wine, starting with the challenging yet beloved Pinot Noir.

In Amber's winemaking, the influence of Santa Barbara is unmistakable. Her approach is grounded in a deep understanding of the region's diverse climate. She actively manages the vineyards she contracts, ensuring that her practices are closely aligned with the land's natural rhythm. Her decisions are driven by the unique characteristics of each site, from the warm Sauvignon Blanc vineyards to the cooler Pinot Noir locations.

Balancing her professional life with being a mother of three, Amber's daily routine is a dynamic mix of family, vineyard management, and production work. In quieter moments of the wine season, she engages in her passion for floral work, creating holiday wreaths and designs.

One of Amber's professional challenges has been establishing her place in the winemaking industry. Initially cautious about revealing her role in her wines, Amber's confidence has grown with the recognition of their quality. The success and evolution of her wines have reinforced her belief in their appeal and her place in the market.

Mentored by Ken Brown, Amber has developed a keen instinct for winemaking. This guidance, along with her practical experiences, has been crucial in her professional development.

We are thrilled to be able to share Amber's wines with you. Her journey is not just a personal achievement but a story of adapting and thriving in the diverse landscape of Santa Barbara’s wine country. We look forward to introducing you to her exceptional wines that beautifully encapsulate the essence of the region.
